About us

Bharatha Samskruthi Prakashana was established in 1998 under the aegis of Bharatha Darshana, well known publishers of great Indian epics. The sole intention of Bharatha Samskruthi Prakashana was to reach out the great Indian epics to the masses, particularly young children, so as to inculcate human values at an early age.

With the above goal in mind, the first series “Epic Characters of Mahabharatha” was published in (Kannada - English - Hindi) 1998. This noble venture has had the blessings of Sri Sri Rangapriya Sripada Swamiji, who has been the divine force behind all our publications. The series comprises a Book Box Set (Set of 10 books) and is based on important characters from the Mahabharatha. Each book contains 52 pages, and the 10 books are packed in a beautiful coloured Stash Box which helps one to preserve the books apart from identifying the set with ease.

With the support of the public, the second series “Epic Characters of Ramayana” (Kannada - English - Hindi) was published in 1999. This was followed by “Maharshis of Ancient India” (Kannada - English) in 2001, “Epic Characters of Puranas” (Kannada - English) in 2003, and “Epic Characters of Vedas & Upanishads” (Kannada - English) in 2005. Every series comes as a Book Box Set comprising 10 books that are stored in a coloured Stash Box.

The language in all these books has been kept lucid and simple in order to reach out to the broad spectrum of society. The books have been highly acclaimed and have been introduced as part of “Moral Education” in many schools throughout India. Bharatha Darshana, which started off as a monthly magazine in Kannada language, was established in the year 1957 by late Sri Keshava Subramanya Kowshik, for propogation of the great Indian epics – Ramayana, Mahabharatha  and  Bhagavatham.  Currently too, the magazine is being published on a monthly basis to further this good cause.

With the intention of bringing out  these great epics in detailed volumes in Kannada, the first volume of Sriman Mahabharatha was published in 1972.  These volumes were translated from Sanskrit and had the blessings of Sri Sri Rangapriya Sripada Swamiji, who is the president of the publication. Each volume is hard bound and contains 640 pages.  The publication of this series saw fruitful completion in 1985 by when it came to be covered in 32 volumes. This was possible only due to the unstinted support and hard work of several people. Needless to say that this labour of love has received immense encouragement from hundreds and thousands of people.

After completion of  the Mahabharatha series, publication of the Srimad Valmiki Ramayana series was taken up on the same lines and was completed in 11volumes in 1991. This was followed by Srimad Bhagavatha  in 9 volumes in 1996,  the Harivamsha in 6 volumes in 2002, Markandeya Purana in 4 volumes in 2009, Vishnu Purana in two volumes in 2016.

The sole purpose of the publication is to propagate the knowledge found in our sanathana-dharma literature to the masses at an affordable cost.  We are proud that these books have reached more than 100,000 homes and they are continuing to support the spread of this great knowledge.
